New Memorial Trolley Tour

Veterans & Vigilantes Image 6

Vigilantes, Veterans & Victories!

Discover Sarasota Tours launches a fun new way to explore the city’s colorful history at 10 AM Fridays and 2 PM Sundays during May: The Memorial Trolley Tour: Vigilantes, Veterans & Victories.

Hear stories of Sarasota’s military history and the booms that followed each conflict, from the Seminole Wars of the early 18th century, right up through World War II and 9/11.

Learn about the early settler vigilantes who ruled during the lawless years of the early 20th century, and visit the city’s historic pioneer cemeteries, as well as the recently completed National Cemetery where U.S. Veterans are laid to rest.

Finish up near Unconditional Surrender, the Seward Johnson sculpture fashioned after the iconic Alfred Eisenstaedt photograph of a sailor embracing a nurse, celebrating V–J day in Times Square.

Tour guide Christine Cain is an International Tour Management Institute (ITMI) certified guide who combines a love of travel, theater, art and music with deep knowledge of world and hometown history. Christine has designed and led multiple custom tours for friends and family in the U.S. and abroad. She has worked in critical care nursing (she is fully CPR certified!) and has also spent 12 years as a professional party planner for groups from 50-100.

Memorial Trolley Tours run Friday mornings at 10 AM and Sunday afternoons at 2 PM during the month of May. Ages 12+ | $30 per person + tax and fees.

All tours depart from the DST Trolley Depot located at 1826 Fourth Street—a cute 1930s cottage near downtown with a charming Vintage Sarasota gift shop.
